SOUTHERN'S GLOBAL CORRESPONDENCE

Focusing on her unpublished letter correspondences from 1972-1983, this exhibit traces Southern’s global networks, friendships, and travels as she became part of a movement towards a “black global consciousness.” Over the course of her career, students from Liberia, Nigeria, Carriacou, France, and Zambia wrote to Southern asking for her advice on their dissertation topics and how to study abroad in America
